For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. – Jeremiah 29:11
Today, it was especially quiet in my house. All I heard was an occasional chirp from various birds and the intermittent flicker from the air conditioner. “This is peaceful,” I thought, as I leaned back and took in more of the quiet. However, what came to my mind is just because there is quiet, does not mean there is peace. Then, I thought about how many people wrestle with the trials of this life in the quiet. Needless to say, I was thankful for the reminder.
Peace…it’s not the calm and the quiet but trusting and relying on God.
May we keep in mind that our peace does not come from the quiet, a calmness in the atmosphere around us, nor any outward things; our peace comes from God. When we trust him, his spirit fills our hearts with his peace. It is a peace that supersedes trials, difficulties, lack of quiet, or any outward thing; it is the peace that surpasses all understanding. And, Yah’s peace is the only true peace. It can be found in the four walls of a home or in the middle of a storm, extending to wherever because we trust in the God of peace and his sovereignty. What a blessing! HalleluYah!
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.
